Thread @ Farnham Maltings

Thread 001

It was a lot of fun to head off to Thread at Farnham Maltings last weekend, not only as I was leaving my 3 month old daughter  with her dad for a few hours (it was the first time eek!) but also as I could immerse myself in fun and friendly crafting world again. I managed to pop along to see Great British Sewing Bee’s Guthrie Gandhi at work, teaching a purse making workshop. Visited the Alice & Ginny workshop space, as well as perused the beautiful stalls which including Beyond Measure and Sarah Waterhouse Printed Textiles and finally purchased some pretty amazing liberty fabric to make some bonnets for my daughter from local shop Stitched By You.

Outlaw Handmade and Artisan Events

How much fun did I have at Outlaw Handmade & Artisan Event in Bristol? A lot!! It was full of talented makers, cool workshops for everyone and yummy homemade food, a perfect combination in my book. Take a peak……

Its taken me a while to blog about his one as it took place at the start of May but I must say was such a friendly event, it felt like being part of one big family. Outlaws next event is in Falmouth and takes place next week, between the 11th and 16th August. It will have a marquee full of the best local designer-makers and food and drink producers showcasing their amazing products, with live music, delicious street food and Summer Breeze bar. The perfect place to while away an hour or two in the summer sun.

Tea and a chat with Laura Spring

Laura Spring MM1

Its finally here, my fab photographic feature in this months Mollie Makes magazine with the wonderful Laura Spring. I actually went to art school at the same time as Laura, our paths never crossed during that time as I studied fine art and Laura design but I happened across her amazing work a few years ago at Pulse Trade Show and have followed her progress launching collections each season and loving every one. It was a real thrill to photograph Laura at home and in her studio in Glasgow, thanks so much for saying yes and say hello to chips from me. You can see and buy Laura’s work at www.lauraspring.co.uk

Bright Young Things with Sheila Bownas

Sheila Bownas Collection 2015 - 1

Bloody hell, isn’t every collaborative collection that Chelsea Cefai creates from the Sheila Bownas print archive amazing! I had the pleasure of working with Chelsea on this series of images, of products made in collaboration with Elisabeth Barry (top left), Zoe Darlington (top right) and Sarah Waterhouse (bottom left). Chelsea has an incredible eye for shape, form and colour and how they work together as well as making the best sandwiches in the world (its the bread!) If you haven’t seen the recent coverage of the 2015 collection, there has been plenty from print to blogs and social media. If you’d like to see the whole collection take a look at the Sheila Bownas website where pieces can be bought from as little as £45.

Mollie Makes ‘Tea and a Chat’

I was just a little bit thrilled to hang out with Sarah Hamilton at her amazing home in Crystal Palace even more so as the reason for hanging out was to meet up with Lara Watson the Editor of Mollie Makes for the ‘tea and a chat with..’ feature. Oh what a day we had, I had obviously baked a shed load of chocolate guiness muffins the night before, we chatted, I got to look at every piece of beautifulness that Sarah had brought back from her trip to Japan last year. And we talked ‘just a card’ if you don’t have the emblem on your blog, get it! If you want to see the story in full, pootle over to the Mollie Makes website or you’ll most probably find it in most good sized WHSmiths.
