Blighty Boutique Vintage Fairs

BB11th 1

It incredible the number of smiling faces you see at Vintage Fairs and Sundays Fair organised by Amy from Blighty Boutique goes down in my top five events where almost everyone from sellers and buyers, the lady at the door, the girls who served me an amazing slice of Coffee and Walnut cake to the 8 year old girl who I saw bartering with her mum for a little more pocket money had huge smiles. It truly was smiles all around, amazing!

There were so many lovely things, especially homewares and fabrics and to died for bed linens which may prompt me to redecorate our bedroom. I particularly loved the reused glass jelly mould candles, they smelt amazing and if I hadn’t washed my jeans which I had put everyone’s contact details in, then I’d provide you with a link but hopefully someone will get in touch as it was such a great idea. I’m looking forward to the next one which I believe is scheduled for November and hopefully at one point I’ll be able to sell a few bits myself as my rummaging has been getting the best of me over the last few weeks and my trips to the car boots with Emily from Berylune and Charlotte are just a little bit of a fixture. Yeah the power of facebook and the candles are from serendipitycandles which will now be on my christmas list!

Crochet with Kat

Its lovely to find new people who inspire your creative side on twitter, I recently started following Kat Goldin after seeing a flyer promoting her learn to crochet workshop at The Stitchery Studio in Glasgow. I love workshops, especially ones which are so inclusive and creative and allow complete beginners to take a finished pieces away with them at the end of the session. Kat’s class was an hour long and although not everyone finished their very cute crochet bow for a hair piece of brooch, everyone had smiles on their faces by the end of the class and what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Kat offers lots of workshops on crochet, from an hour long to day long course in her studio in Alloa or in Glasgow. Check out her website for dates and forthcoming events.

The Stitchery Studio where Kat’s workshops were hosted is amazing, big thanks to Cassandra for allowing me to photograph the workshop. If you live in Glasgow or are visiting the city for a few days it might be a good idea to see if they have a workshop running too, there’s lots to choose from including basic sewing machine techniques to natural dying workshops. These workshops were booked through ITISON which is a totally cool way of finding out events and deals in your local area in and around Scotland, its searchable by city so its a good idea to take a look at if your heading North.
